ERP
The term ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is today synonymous with administrative IT systems suporting all business processes including Finance, Accounting, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Supply Change Management (SCM), Warehouse, Manufacturing, Service Management, Asset Management, Maintenance, Human Capital management (HCM), Payroll etc. Characteristics of traditional ERP systems are that they support a wide range of business processes and the data is recorded once in the system, but instantaneously affects many other relevant parts of the system. ERP systems are often modular, enabling the customer gradually to take different parts of the system into use, as the need arises. Other characteristics are that systems often are built on a homogenous and uniform data model, through which the business can get support for cross-organizational processes.
